WELCOME TO THE PŪKEKO CENTRE
A versatile, multi-use facility
The Pūkeko Centre is a joint venture being undertaken by the Parklands Bowling Club and the Parklands Rugby Football Club.
It involves the relocation of two buildings from the former Freeville School – the Modern Learning Studio and the School Hall – onto the Parklands Bowling Club site in Chadbury Street.
These two ideally suited and good quality buildings were previously earmarked for demolition but have generously been made available to us by the Ministry of Education. We are thrilled to be able to put them to good use for the benefit of the wider Parklands Community!
The completed centre will provide a range of options for indoor and outdoor recreation and social activity including shared clubrooms, meeting rooms, café, hall, ample parking, bowling greens and all- weather courts for netball, futsal and tennis.
The first phase of the development is expected to be completed ??
Meeting the needs of the community
Over the past three years the Project Committee has been actively consulting not only with other local groups, clubs and organisations but they have also built strong connections with managers of the other facilities in the area. We are now uniquely positioned to understand and meet the needs of a growing community and to ensure that the new facilities complement, rather than compete with, other local facilities.
Current progress (updated 23.1.17)
We are excited to be able to report that Phase one is now almost completely funded and work is now underway to prepare the site for the relocation. Relocation of both buildings is expected to take place in March. Visit Latest News for further updates
